Cross Country
It was a Thursday afternoon and it was the day of the Cross Country. When the bell rang I rushed into the classroom as fast as I could. Just then Viv got in the room and we had to get our drink bottles ready for the big race that was about to happen. Altogether we walked over to the front field where all the kids were. We found what year we were in then we sat down on tarpaulins so our trousers didn’t get muddy and wet.
First the year six girls went. They looked puffed when they were finished. Next the year six boys went. They didn’t look puffed when they finished. Then all the year five girls and boys went. All the year fours went next. They were very fast.
Finally Jonathon called out the year three girls. I almost burst out of my skin because I was so excited. I walked over in excitement to the line. Dave suddenly smashed the wooden blocks together. Off we ran like ma. I was thinking I was going to slip over in the muddy, slippery field. It was very hard going up the stairs.
I was very proud of myself because I came third.

Kangaroos
A baby kangaroo is called a joey. When baby kangaroos are first born they are as small as a bean. When they get born they climb into their mother’s pouch head first and drink some of their mother’s milk. When mother and baby kangaroos are getting chased the mother drops the joey but later the mother kangaroo comes back. Kangaroos walk strangely because they hop on their back legs, Male kangaroos are the boss of the group. Sometimes other kangaroos think they’re the boss of the group so that’s a fight.
